The inn, featuring air-conditioned guestrooms with marble baths and access to Internet, honours Prince Henry the Navigator, better known as Dom Henrique, who was born in Porto and was responsible of many of the discoveries acknowledged to this country in the 15th and 16th centuries. However, this is not where the bonds with history end: not only is the Hotel Dom Henrique located a few setps from Porto`s historical centre (declared World Heritage by UNESCO) but it was also the first high-rise building in the area. |
Constructed in 1973, with the latest renovations held in 2006, it has 19 floors: from the bar "Anrrique" on the 17th, and the conference room "Navegador", on the 18th, you will get a spectacular view of the city of Porto, its streets and traditional houses. To obtain a complete taste of this city famous for its wine, the restaurant "Além-Mar", found on the ground floor, serves traditional Portuguese dishes and the bar 54 metres above sea level, delightful snacks such as the specialty "Francesinha". |
