 Around the year 1750, a small chapel was established at this point in the countryside to honour Senhora do Carmo: the many pilgrims that would come to worship her and pray in her presence stayed at several buildings constructed around the small, simple temple. As a matter of fact, these four blocks nowadays house the 20 guestrooms available for tourists seeking rest and absolute quietness. |
 You may choose among suites, doubles rooms or twins: in any case the latest technologies are found side by side with details from the original construction, like vaults and wooden beams on the ceiling. The property was turned into a hotel in September 2006, after a complete renovation was carried out. |
 However, the chapel still works as a religious temple, and every last Saturday in the month, people from Azaruja (a nearby town only 1 km from the inn) and other close towns come to pray and thank Senhora do Carmo. At Hotel Rural Monte do Carmo you will experience a totally rustic rest: there is a biological swimming pool, a restaurant and a games room where to spend your time, apart from all sorts of sports and outdoor activities to make the most of the natural surroundings. |
