It was on 17th the December 1921 that a luxuriant café named "Elite" came to life, following a plan of the architect João Queirós.

A national monument, the Stock-Exchange Palace is the headquarters of the Porto Commercial Association. It was built in neo-classical style in the second half of the 19th century. Located in the centre of the city, it is one of the most visited monuments, notably for its renowned Arabian Hall.

São Bento Railway Station
It was built in the beginning of the 20th century on the site of the former Convent of S. Bento de Avé-Maria, thus obtaining its name. The vestibule is adorned with twenty thousand tiles illustrating historical events, painted by Jorge Colaço (1864-1942). It is one of the most important artistic initiatives of the turn of the century and was designed by the architect Marques da Silva.

Feitoria Inglesa - English Factory
The Factory House began to be constructed in 1785 and was finished in 1790. The plan is ascribed to consul John Whitehead and is inspired by the neo-palladian English style. The main façade presents a classical look and is composed of four registers. The ground floor is formed by seven arches that lead to an outside gallery and to the entrance of the building. The main floor is composed of high openings, with balconies and frontons. These are curved at the far sides and triangular at the middle portals. The second and fourth floors, conceived with the form of mezzanines, have parapet windows, therefore of small dimensions. The façade ends with a platband, decorated with balusters and festoons. Inside, the famous staircase with the respective skylight, the ballroom and the monumental kitchen are worthy of mention. Located on the last floor, the kitchen still keeps all the original equipment and the primitive table ware.

"Museu do Vinho do Porto" - Port Wine Museum
The Port Wine Museum is located in an 18th century warehouse where the wines of Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro were once stored. This Museum aims to be an information centre about the Port wine, motivating visitors to discover the commercial history of the city relating it to this worldwide famous wine.

"Museu Romantico da Quinta da Macieirinha"
The Museum reproduces the interior of a rich dwelling of the 19th century. Some aspects of the decorative arts of that period are worthy of notice. Charles Albert, King of Piedmont and Sardinia, spent his last days in exile here, where he died on 28 July 1849. In his memory, some of the rooms he inhabited were restored.

"Capela das Almas"
Although it was built in the early 18th century, the chapel is very simple. The main façade has a door, in the centre, framed and topped by a broken circular fronton. In the same alignment and on top of this, a big window, also topped by a circular fronton. On the spandrel, in a vast triangular fronton, a bipartite blazonry is fixed with the coat of arms of S. Francisco das Chagas and of Santa Catarina, inside a tablet topped by a closed crown. At the far sides of the cornice there are two urns and, in the centre, a stone cross. Separated by a pilaster on the left, stands the steeple tower, in two storeys; the first has a door, in the centre, with a small window and, the second, four steeple windows with a narrow balcony, with pyramids in the corners. The dome is topped by an iron cross.

"Casa da Musica" - House of Music
The idea to build the House of Music came up within the planning of Porto 2001 _ European Capital of Culture. It is an outstanding polyhedron-shaped construction, specifically built by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, situated by the Rotunda da Boavista (Boavista roundabout), between the city centre/historical centre and the business area of Boavista, as well as Foz. These plural facilities are equipped with the necessary infrastructures and technical and acoustic means to enable the production and the presentation of different music performances and other events.
