The Pousada de Alcácer do Sal - D. Afonso II over looks the river Sado in a vast green valley in Alcácer do Sal some 50 km south of Setúbal and around 90 km from Lisbon. The valley it overlooks produces pine nuts, cork and rice and there are many ruins that can be found from different periods such as Roman, Arab and Phoenician. The place is ideally situated near the west coast so a trip to the beach is within easy reach. There are also many historical places to visits as well as a variety of Dams and lakes to enjoy various activities such as fishing, bird watching or adventure sports. |

By Plane
The Lisbon International airport has connections with all the major airports in the world and with internal flights within the country. The airport enjoys great transport links with the Metro system by means of a shuttle bus service that runs every 20 minutes to Cais do Sodré and this links to the other Metro lines and over ground stations. Oriente station is the nearest over ground station form the airport and is only 1km away. The hotel is reachable by train or car by following the instructions below and is around 90km away.
By Train
To arrive by train you need to use the Sado line which has a stop in Setùbal. From the airport use the shuttle bus service to Cais do Sodré and from there you can connect with the Sado line to Setubal via boat. Or from Oriente station use the Intercity service to Setùbal, this takes around 1 hour to one and a half hours and the service is hourly expect for two periods in the day, one morning and one afternoon when there is a three hour gap between trains, it start at just after 8am and finishes just after 7pm. When you arrive in Setùbal you can take the local train and get off at Alcacér do Sal.
By Car
From Lisbon airport take the E1 south and continue along the E1 exit14 then take IC17 and take IP1 and continue until exit 8 N5. Continue on the IC1 all the way into Alcácer do Sal, when you arrive in Alcacer turn left after 0.6km into Largo do Visconde De Alcácer and the place is a few hundred metres up the road. You can just follow signs to Castelo de Alcácer where the hotel is situated. From the south simple take the A2/E01all the way north where it becomes the IC1 and follow all the way to Alcácer do Sal and just follow signs to Castelo de Alcácer. From the east just use the IP8 which meets up with the IC1 south of Alcácer do Sal and follow as above. |
