The Pousada de Torrão - Vale do Gaio serves a continental breakfast each morning that can be taken in the room or if you like on the terrace area. The terrace is shaded under a canopy which has plants intertwined along it and offers views and table and chairs. The restaurant serves up some local dishes like spinach soup with egg and cheese, codfish stew with tomato and sweet pepper or stuffed pork chops.
 
The dining room is very warm and homely with a grand brick open fire place, wooden floors and light coloured wooden tables with wicker style chairs which makes a lovely environment to eat in. There is also a modern style lounge area and a bar where guests can relax in. There is a fair sized swimming pool that has plenty of sun beds around it and sun shades are available with them as well.
 
There is also private parking in the hotel grounds. The reception can offer guests a laundry service and 24 hour room service as well as a fax service, safe and newspapers. The reception staff is multilingual and is happy to offer advice on tourist information and travel information in the area. Other services can be arranged on request so don't be afraid to ask.

There is plenty of scope for many water activities in the area with fishing, parasailing or sailing amongst other activities available. The area is a prime location for ornithologists with many different species of birds living in the area and there are many hiking and mountain bike trails to follow which is an ideal way to discover the area. If you travel a bit further a field some thirty miles away to the west is the Alcacer do Sal which is the castle of salt which is on the banks of the River Sado.
 
At the mouth of the river there are salt pans and paddy fields for rice growing which house many birds so is a good spot for more bird watching. You should also make your way to
an old Phoenician settlement where you can walk around freely and see some of the beautiful buildings and the ruins of a Moorish castle.
