Profile

The property offers a magnificent and unique view of the Untersberg Mountain and is located at the lakeside of pond Leopoldskron. The rococo palace has a famous and artistic history, is originally preserved and dates back to 1736. It is the Birthplace of the Salzburg Festival and the original film location for the equally famous Oscar winning picture, The Sound of Music.

Schloss Leopoldskron is the home and private property of the American educational institution Salzburg Global Seminar which challenges (future) leaders to solve issues of global concern. If SGS sessions and programs are not in progress, the palace is open for exclusive events, seminars, conferences and as an extraordinary private accommodation. The picturesque palace and the adjoining Meierhof are complimented by the spectacular views on offer and the great friendly and personal service of the staff working there.

The Meierhof offers 55 single and double rooms that are classical and spacious. The same building houses a small fitness centre, a café-bar, the reception, the main conference room and a library with internet terminals in the Vilar Centre. There is a large breakfast buffet served every morning in one of the two main dining rooms in the palace that is prepared by the chef and offers international cuisine in fantastically elegant settings, which were made to fit the Prince Archbishops needs in former times..
